Calamity Jane
At two pounds (maybe) and about 6-7 weeks old Calamity Jane was all alone in the median of a four-lane highway. If only she could tell us how she got there. When she was brought to us she was full of spit and vinegar. OK, she was mean as a rattlesnake. We very carefully explained to her that although all this growling and snarling and snapping was sort of funny from a baby like her, she would have to change her ways. We would never be able to adopt her out in good faith. It seems that she understood that concept. Once she realized there was no one to fight for her food and no one was going to give her anything but love, she became a different pup.
Calamity turned out to be a smart child and a really nice looking young lady. She was smart enough to find her perfect family who have nothing but praises for her and love her like crazy. Her name is now Zulu, but she will always be Calamity Jane to us.
