If he could talk, the first thing you would probably ask him would be ‘what happened?’. This big, beautiful boy had been roaming a neighborhood. A caring family had been feeding and watching over him when they noticed a wound on the top of his neck. They transferred him to the shelter. His initial vet visit revealed that the wound was worse than thought. (There are differing opinions as to what caused it, but no one knows for sure. It didn’t match up to a collar injury like some.) The wound had a deep ‘pocket’ -large enough to fit three fingers inside. It would require faithful, twice a day cleanings and antibiotics. He got the care he needed from volunteers and shelter staff. Fast forward, the wound is now just a ‘spot’. He has been nothing short of amazing during his treatment and stay at the shelter. He hasn’t met a human he didn’t like and vice-versa. He was tested, and unfortunately, found to be heartworm positive. He has had his treatment and is healing. He is now waiting for his loving, lucky family to find him. It’s easy to picture this fellow snuggled on the couch with his person, sharing a snack-enjoying the life he’s been waiting for... Friends, this gentle giant of a cuddle bug is Benny.
